The Homebuying Process

in 10 Easy Steps

What's Next?

Your New Home

It’s no longer just a house, it’s a home, specifically your home. Looking back at step one, are you ready to save funds for when things go wrong such as, appliances breaking, pipes bursting, and insurance claims? Can you be a kind and courteous neighbor? It’s now your responsibility

Your Utilities

You, the new homeowner, are responsible for making sure all the utilities are transferred over and turned on. This is not something your agent or loan officer can do. You can contact your utilities company a few days before closing and let them know they day you’re closing. That way all the utilities are transferred into your name and running the day you close.

Your New Mortgage

Now that you are officially a homeowner, not only are you responsible for your new home, but you are also responsible for your new mortgage. Make sure you know when and where your first mortgage payment is due. If you are unsure, then contact your loan officer. If you are ever experiencing a financial hardship and cannot make your mortgage payment, it is crucial that you contact your mortgage servicer and let them know. They will work with you to make sure you do not default on your loan and come up with a plan that works with you.
